Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Beijing
You'll be met on arrival in Beijing. On the way to the Hotel,
your guide will explain tomorrow's arrangements. Spend the
rest of the day exploring the nearby streets, or resting and
catching up on your jetlag. Beijing is a city of amazing con
trasts - an ancient capital with some incredible historical
sites, and a bustling modern metropolis getting ready to
host the 2008 Olympics.
Day 2: Beijing air Lanzhou (B, L, D)
Take the morning flight to Lanzhou, afternoon visit to Yellow River, White Pagoda Hill.
Day 3: Lanzhou (B, L, D)
Day tour to visit Bingling Temple Grotto. Located on the north bank of the Yellow River, Binglingsi Grottoes is one of the six famous Buddhist Caves started by some Buddhist monks from as early as the year of 265-316. After many years' work, there are 183 caves with 694 stone statues, 82 earth statues and 900 square meters murals existing.
Day 4: Lanzhou/Xiahe (B, L, D)
Drive to Xiahe, known as "Little Tibet", and visit Labrang Monastery, As one of the six great monasteries of the Gelukpa (Yellow Hat) Sect, Labrang Monastery is Tibetan Buddhism's most important monastery town outside Tibet itself. It is famous for thousands of statues of Buddha made of gold, silver, copper, and aluminum. Seven large-scale summon ceremonies are held a year here.

Day 5: Xiahe/Lanzhou (B, L, D)
In the morning, visit the Sangke Grassland and a Tibetan Family. Sangke Grassland is bordered by the Daxia River and famous for its excellent pasture and frequent magnificent Buddhist ceremonies. Lush green grass and colorful flowers form a natural carpet covering this expansive area. Groups of sheep and yaks plus white tents form a beautiful picture. Afternoon transfer back to Lanzhou. And take the overnight train to Jiayuguan after dinner.

Day 6: Jiayuguan (B, L, D)
Arrive Jiayuguan in the morning, and you will tour the Jiayuguan Fortress, an impenetrable fortress surrounded by 3 inner and outer walls and several line of defense, Hanging Cliff Great Wall and Great Wall Museum.
Day 7: Jiayuguan/Duhuang (B, L, D)
Drive to Dunhuang in the morning, a strategic staging post on the Silk Road with a history of more than 2,000 years. You will also visit Mingsha Hill which are famous for the sounds the wind makes when blowing over the dunes, and Crescent moon spring, which is quite literally an oasis in the desert. The spring's name derives from the crescent moon shape the small pool of spring water has taken between two large sand dunes.
Day 8: Dunhuang (B, L, D)
Today you will visit Dunhaung's most famous monument - The Mogao Grottoes. These grottoes are popularly known as the 'Thousand Buddha Caves', and have a history of over 1600 years. The walls of the caves are lined with Buddhist frescoes, Scriptures, murals and sculpted figures. After dinner, take an overnight train ride to Turpan.
Day 9: Turpan (B, L, D)
Arrive Turpan in the early morning. Today you will visit Turpan, an oasis town famous for its melons and vineyards. Turpan is located in the Gobi desert and is the lowest city in China as well as the driest and hottest. You will go to visit the bazaar and experience the atmosphere of the Uygur way of life. You will also visit the ancient city of Jiaohe and a Karez well. The Karez well is an underground irrigation system unique to the area.
Day 10: Turpan/Urumqi (B, L, D)
Today you will visit Grape Valley and then the ruined city of Gaochang. And you will also visit the "Flaming Mountain", made famous by Master Xuan Zang, an eminent monk and Buddhist scholar on his pilgrimage to India, then Bezeklik Buddha Grottoes (Thousand Buddha Cave). In the afternoon be transferred through the Gobi desert to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Province.
Day 12: Urumqi air Kashgar (B, L, D)
Take your tour to visit the Moore Buddha Pagoda, Id Kah Mosque and Abak Hoja (Fragrant Concubine) Tomb, and you will have your time to wander through the famous Great Bazzar , alive with storybook scenes: thousands of merchants haggling for camels, carpets and other native goods; imams on don keys and veiled women in their back robes. ( Sunday will be the best time to visit Bazzar as the animal bazzar is only available on Sunday) .. And take the evening flight back to Urumqi.
Day 13: Urumqi air Shanghai (B)
You will be free till being transferred to airport for the flight to Shanghai. Arrive Shanghai, meet and transfer to hotel. You will spend your own time in Shanghai or have any extension tour.
Day 14: Shanghai departure (B)
Enjoy free till transfer to the airport for flight onward.
