The Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen is situated at the foot of the second peak of Mount Zijin in Nanjing. It was constructed in 1926 shortly after Sun's death. Because Sun was the founding father of the republic of China, this majestic mausoleum blends the styles of traditional imperial tombs and modern architecture. It is a symbolic historical site of the former KMT government and a pilgrimage site of KMT members in Taiwan.
