Great Wall
Great Wall of China is one of the greatest wonders of the world and has been listed in the World Heritage by UNESCO since 1987. There is an old Chinese saying that "No one is a real man unless he has climbed the Great Wall". Great wall extends more than 5,000 kilometers, which winds through the mountain and desert areas of northern China from Heilongjiang province by Korea to China's westernmost province of Xinjiang. The Great Wall was built to keep the China's horse-riding neighbors at bay, and it was the ancient fortification that experienced the longest building up time in the world. The project began around 500 BC. When Emperor Qin Shi Huang unified the most parts of the Mainland in 221 BC, a continuous line of fortification was constructed by joining up the old wall. It took 300,000 men to work for ten years. The Qin wall has continuous extensions and restorations throughout the 2000-year history of Chinese feudal society. The present wall remains in Beijing are mainly the result of the Ming period (1368 - 1644).

The wall sections in Beijing include Badaling, Juyong Pass, Mutianyu, Simatai, Jinshanling, and others.
