Tiananmen Square
Tian'anmen Square is located in the center of Beijing city, also the symbol of China. It covers about 40 hectares, which is the largest square in the world. Tian'anmen Gate was built in 1417 in Ming Dynasty and called Chengtianmen (Gate of Heavenly Succession) at that time. In the Ming and Qing dynasties, Tian'anmen Square used to be a square in front of the Imperial Palace and was forbidden to common people. On October 1st 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong proclaimed, "People's Republic of China has been established" on the Tian'anmen rostrum.

The Great Hall of the People
The Great Hall of the People was built on the west of the Tian'anmen Square in 1959, which is over 171,800 square meters. It is used for the representatives of the National People's Congress to hold meeting. Sometimes the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council and other People's organizations conduct their political activities in this congress hall. Its total seating capacity is 10,000 people at a time.

National Museum of Chinese History
National Museum of Chinese History is located on the east of the Tian'anmen Square. It was built in 1912 and moved to current location in 1959. The museum is at national level and has collection of historical and cultural relics of both ancient and modern times. The exhibition is divided into the primitive, slave, and feudal society. It has over 9,000 pieces of chronological relics and materials, most of which were found after 1949.


Chairman Mao Memorial Hall
Chairman Mao Memorial Hall is located on the south of the Monument to the People's Heroes, and was completed in 1977. It covers an area of over 57,000 square meters. In the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, there is a statue of Chairman Mao, which made by white marble. In the hall for paying homage to the remains of Chairman Mao, there is a crystal coffin with Chairman Maos remains lying in it with wearing a gray uniform suit and covered with the Communist Party's flag.
