The little village Zhoukoudian is worldwide famous now because of the discovery of Peking man's the first skulls in 1929. The village is about 90 kilometers southeast from Beijing, and the fossil remains of pekinensis were dated to about 600,000 to 700,000 years ago. Scientists figure out a picture of Peking man's early community, and so far over 40 inhabitants' bones were unearthed.
